I'm excited to workout out maybe 75% of the time, give or take 25%
Lots of times I'm dragging and I talk myself into and out of going to the gym. I love to workout, but I don't always feel like doing it. This is normal. There are many things that make us feel good, but we don't always feel like doing them. I can think of an entire list of examples: wearing makeup, dressing up, taking a hot bath instead of a shower. Let your mind run wild. I cannot recall a single time I regretted dragging myself to the gym however. I always leave happier for it. When we have an end goal in mind, there's no room for our fickle mind. We must push through.
This post is about sabotaging our demotivation.
When I moved into my apartment I left several unpacked boxes in my office, because you know "out of sight, out of mind." Except, they were very much in my sight while I was working. One day I decided that I was tired of seeing them in my peripheral vision, so I scooted them all into my living room, and in front of my TV. You can guess what happened next.
I learned to apply this same strategy to working out. Essentially, make it impossible not to go, by any means necessary. Figure out what it is, that if you do it, will essentially seal your exercise fate. Maybe it's freezing your car keys so you have to walk or bike to work...it could be anything. For me personally, taking a preworkout or fat burner is the nail in the coffin. I have to go, lest be saddled with so much energy that I won't be able to sleep that night. Now I don't recommend that strategy for everyone, it's just an example. You can take it or leave it. However, I do want you to find your demotivation kryptonite and let me know what it is in the comments below.
