CB2 easily offers one of the more fun and daring home design experiences, especially in the retail space. While CB2 is a sizeable brand beneath the Crate & Barrel company umbrella, their collections are still relatively unique. They partner with cool indie designers and artists, offering pieces that are hard to find. You can find yourself in two homes furnished almost entirely by CB2 and they'll look nothing alike, it's quite remarkable.
My most favorite piece from CB2 has a home on the prominent wall in my living room. It's a large painting of six adorable llamas and every time I have guests over I end up swimming in compliments. I tracked down the artist and ordered three more paintings from her collection, direct, because I couldn't find them anywhere else. This is the sort of experience CB2 lovers share, not only outfitting our spaces with seriously fun decor but also connecting to those pieces on a deeper level.
As a brand, their design aesthetic is fresh, often minimal, and makes use of color pallets that compliment any decor. The gratuitous use of gold details and high contrasting tones in their curated pieces makes them look instantly more expensive than they are. This is a characteristic design enthusiast are particularly appreciative of and one that many stores like CB2 offer as well.
I think the design world is in unanimous agreement that expensive items shouldn't look cheap, but it's becoming more of an expectation that inexpensive items can look expensive. The below brands are a mix of all of the above. Like CB2, they all carry modern Scandinavian furniture and beautiful home accessories. Some brands curate inexpensive pieces that easily look expensive, while other brands offer high-end and high-quality pieces that look incredible. Either way, you'll be able to source uniquely designed items that set your home apart.
1. IKEA
Compared to CB2, IKEA offers the same sleek Scandinavian furniture designs, but on a greater scale. Traversing any IKEA can be anxiety-inducing solely due to how much stuff they have. From custom closets to modern bed frames, couches, and kitchens they have it all. Still, that works to your advantage. While IKEA is an extremely popular and mainstream home decor brand, your space can still be wholly unique to you. For its affordability and style alone, IKEA should forever be an option you consider.
The cactus decor is available for $15.
2. Apt2b
Apt2b is a mid-tier modern home decor brand with oodles of really pretty pieces for every room in your home. Their overall design aesthetic is "solids over prints" and "sexy over bland" so CB2 shoppers will definitely fall in love.
