Check out our best self-care picks in August’s self-care guide…
2018 is moving quickly and there’s still so much to do. Sometimes all you need is a little boost! As we move into the next month, I’d love to offer you a helpful guide to motivate you in the weeks ahead. This month’s theme is bravery because we must be fearless in our pursuit of an unforgettable summer and continue our spirited efforts for the rest of the year.
In this series, you’ll be introduced to practices, products, and inspiration that will guide you throughout the month and unearth your full potential. Be sensitive to your time and don’t feel like you need to try everything. Feel free to pick what speaks to you from the recommendations below, and remember that there is no wrong way to engage in self-care.
Self-Care For Your Mind
Listen To This Meditation:
Encourage your adventurous soul with this 27-minute guided meditation. Chances are, you haven’t spent enough time on yourself this time. Trust that you deserve this peaceful gift - even if it’s on the longer side. This particular meditation is best practiced prior to sleep and will help you chase your dreams the following day.
Embrace Your Uniqueness:
“Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.” -Pepper Pastor
Be brave enough to be you. You already have everything you need to be the best version of yourself, and it’s the perfect time to acknowledge that you have the skills you need to accomplish all the things you’ve dreamed of. All you have to do now is be bold enough to trust your instincts and believe in the power of emotional courage.
Read These Books About The Universe:
What better way to be brave than to open your mind all the magic the world has to offer? Consider self-exploration, spirituality, and gaining new knowledge to be the mastermind of your life. The best example of bravery on the list is in The Alchemist - which is not only my favorite book but also an incredible story of self-discovery.
Self-Care For Your Body
Practice This Yoga Pose:
The rationale for selecting Forearm stand is that it represents being brave enough to trust another person (or a wall) to catch you until you’re strong enough to balance on your own - a metaphor for life. Plus, it can feel euphoric to be upside down!
To begin, this is not a pose you should try on your own. For first timers, try it with an experienced yoga teacher. For semi-experienced yogis, practice against a wall to start. For confident yogis, try it with a trusted friend until you’ve mastered the pose. The best way to get better at this pose is to strengthen your core.
Summer is almost over and the “summer bod” may still be a work in progress. If you’re a believer in crystals, there’s a specific crystal that’ll help you with your weight loss goals. If you’re not a believer, maybe be brave enough to try something new and out of the ordinary. Discover the natural magic behind the Blue Apatite Crystal.
Smell This Aroma:
What better way to top off your summer than with this energetic essential oil? This uplifting aroma will help you be more carefree about your fears and seize each day - all year round. Still hesitant to the benefits of aromatherapy?
Self-Care For Your Spirit
In the theme of bravery, read your horoscope with confidence and without trepidation. Use August to accomplish a goal that’s been sitting on your to-do list or be spontaneous and do something you otherwise didn’t think you could. You have nothing to lose but time.
This brave mindset will help you understand the meaning of your horoscope and guide you towards your true purpose. As always, may this upcoming month open your mind, heal your body, and strengthen your spirit.
Leverage This Crystal: Amazonite
Amazonite has been nicknamed “The Stone of Courage.” Naturally, it’s the perfect addition to your August rituals. This stone is calming in nature but also empowers self-discovery and truth. This stone will encourage you to move past fears by tempering your soul. I’d recommend keeping it near you in professional settings (i.e. a pocket stone at work) or using it during the guided meditation mentioned above.
Recite This Mantra:
Om Hanumate Namah
This mantra (a sound, word, or phrase practiced in repetition) is a great way to help you face your fears over time. The mantra will provide you with courage, strength, and resilience. It’s best said in the morning to give you more power to take on your day.
Remember This Self-Care Quote:
In honor of the Christopher Robin movie coming out this month, what better motivation than a quote from a beloved character from our childhood? Allow this quote to take you back to when you were younger and truly believed you could be anything you wanted to be. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to believe in yourself so fiercely again? It’s never too late to be brave enough to try.
