100 Self-Care Quotes I Wish I’d Heard Sooner

These self-care quotes are ones that I wish I would’ve heard sooner. However, they are quotes that I wasn’t capable of hearing as well as I am able to hear them today.

That’s the thing about life, everything you experience whether good or bad ultimately lends itself to a greater overall understanding and well-being.

Before self-care was a mainstream term, I simply referred to it as “putting my foot down.” And, the more I became comfortable “putting my foot down” or communicating my preferences, the more I saw my life change for the better. My actively prioritizing self-care is the basis for the freedom and empowerment I feel today and it unfolded one choice at a time.

Every time I say “No, not tonight…,” “No thank you…,” “I’m not comfortable with this…,” “This is what I need…,” “You don’t have to be or do anything for me…,” “This doesn’t feel right….,” “I’m not ready…,” “This feels amazing…,” “This feels like the right thing to do…,” and “I’m going to have a good time anyways…” when I it feels right to do so, I’m loving myself in a way I’ve never done before.

While I wish I would’ve been ready a long time ago to to stop waiting for others to return the love I freely gave, I am grateful that those lessons serve me well today.

So, without further ado…
