Rihanna Used Her Massive Platform to Help Raise $2.3 Billion Dollars in Support of a Global Education Foundation
Serving as the Global Partnership for Education's Global Ambassador, Rihanna spoke at the inaugural GPE Financing Conference in Dakar, Senegal. The event was co-hosted by French President, Emmanuel Macron and Senegalese President Macky Mall. There, she thanked those who’ve helped raise $2.3 billion dollars for the cause but said the battle continues. "We have made tremendous progress today but of course our work is never done," she said during her speech at the conference in Dakar on Friday.
Rihanna isn't a noob at using her platform for the betterment of lives. She actually attended the event on behalf of her Clara Lionel foundation which seeks to assist developing countries with healthcare and education programs. Still, for the GPE event Rihanna leveraged her massive platform by tweeting U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May, Australia's Malcolm Turnbull,President Macron as well as many others and asking for their support through donating to the Global Partnership for Education. Each responded by increasing their donations towards the fund.
🇬🇧 Hello @theresa_may and @PennyMordaunt, please continue to prioritize girls’ education and be a top funder of @GPforEducation. Will @DFID_UK make a historic commitment of £380M to #FundEducation tomorrow? ✏️ @claralionelfdn @glblctzn

The Global Partnership's financial goal was to raise $3.1 billion from donors by 2020 to support the education efforts of 870 million children in developing countries. It seems with Rihanna's support the organization is definitely poised to meet their goal.
