What Your Zodiac Sign Says About Your Finances

zodiac sign money

Some people organize their finances in a spreadsheet and document every cent they spend (seriously, who are these people?) while others put their card into the ATM and pray money comes out. As it turns out, how you approach your finances may be written in the stars, and what your zodiac sign says about your finances is actually pretty revealing. In a new study, Lending Tree used anonymous credit report data from more than a million users and calculated a demographic breakdown of personal finance statistics by zodiac sign.

While what the study reveals about me has been true at various times throughout my life, because humans have free will I have veered off course and am currently approaching a proverbial financial cliff. Same? Lending Tree also offers resources about how to improve your financial life because, as anyone who’s tried to finance a car or rent an apartment knows, credit scores do matter. A lot.

Based on how certain signs are perceived, it’s surprising that their personal finances reflect the opposite. While some signs seem to have it all together to the outside eye, their finances might be a mess. On the other hand, signs that are perceived as flakey and whimsical could have a killer credit score. Basically, when it comes to someone else’s personal finances, don’t judge a book by its cover. What do the cosmos have to say about your financial life? You might be surprised at how spot on it is.

1. Aries and Libra

Opposite signs Aries and Libra are the most skilled at using credit and managing debt, the study found. However, that doesn’t mean these signs aren’t big spenders. But while Aries and Libra take out a lot of loans and use plenty of plastic to finance their trendsetter lifestyles, they’re actually pretty good at paying their bills on time, which helps keep their credit scores high.

2. Leo and Virgo

It’s no surprise that look-at-me Leo spends money they don’t have, but it a little surprising that Virgo has similar habits. According to Lending Tree, the lion and the virgin are the signs most likely to have bad credit, carry high balances, and pay their bills late. Don’t worry Virgo, your secret is safe with me.

3. Gemini

Always-twinning Gemini is also always winning when it comes to personal finances. Gemini has their duality to thank for being the sign with the lowest amount of debt and the highest credit score. Even though the twins might seem flakey AF, their sensible side makes sure the bills are paid in full.

4. Cancers, Scorpios, and Capricorns

These three signs couldn’t be more different. Cancer is a super sensitive homebody. Scorpio is a brooding moody mystery, and Capricorn is often the most successful person in the room. However, when it comes to managing their finances, these signs are all average. They likely have some debt, don’t always make the best financial decisions, and tend to have average credit scores. But with a little focus, Cancer, Scorpio and Capricorn could be leading the pack.

5. Taurus and Aquarius

These two signs are pretty different. Taurus digs their heels in and can outwait anyone over anything just to make a point. On the other hand, Aquarius couldn’t care less what anyone else thinks. If you disagree with them, or you’re not into what they want to do, they have no problem going their own way. But when it comes to managing their finances, these signs are both debt averse. However, neither of them pays bills on time on the reg, which can lead to a lower credit score.

6. Sagittarius and Pisces

Because they’re fueled by whimsy and tend to be the most ungrounded of all the signs in the zodiac, it’s no surprise that Sagittarius and Pisces carry a lot of debt. After all, all of the personal growth doesn’t come cheap. However, despite this, they’re both good at coming up with creative ways to manage their finances so they don’t get into money trouble.
