How to Sweat Proof Your Makeup

We've all been there, you want to squeeze in a light workout in a short window of time and are scrambling to figure out how to make it work. Maybe it's a lunch time workout or you're meeting friends for drinks just after?  Regardless, time is of the essence. This is the first entry in the Workout Tips for When You're Short On Time Series. Now let's take a look at some industry leading tips and products that get you from your workout, to life, in 20 minutes flat.

4 Tips to Sweat Proof Your Makeup

Tip 1. Choose Long-Lasting Formulas

Set yourself up for success and choose long lasting formulas. They tend to be thicker, preventing them from fading over time or sinking into any fine lines or wrinkles. The best long lasting formulas tout upwards of 15 hours of wear. Check out these industry leading and long-lasting primer, concealer, foundation, and mascaras.

Smashbox's photo finish foundation primer is silicone-based, light-weight, and silky. This primer will help your foundation last throughout the day and throughout your workout. It doesn't take much product, and one bottle will last you months.  $42; Sephora.com

Not only does Lancome's concealer do wonders for your under eye circles, but its waterproof formula beats the heat and humidity. It melts very nicely into the skin during application, making blending a breeze, and you won't look like a racoon after your workout. $31; Sephora.com

Estee Lauder promises 15 hour long lasting application with their double wear stay in place makeup and I'd have to agree with that assessment. An added benefit of this line is the sheer amount of shades available to compliment all skin tones.  If you prefer outdoor workouts like running you'll likely have a nice tan.  Match your foundation shade to the tan on your body, and vice versa for an all over even skin tone. $38; Sephora.com

Tip 2.  Set Your Foundation & Concealer

Set your foundation with a long lasting setting powder or spray. This is perhaps the most important step to include as it gets rid of shine and extends the wear of your foundation. My personal favorite is Urban Decay's All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray.

Tip 3. Choose Creams Over Powders

Cream blushes, eyes shadows, and highlighters last much longer than powders as they're a thicker consistency and don't fade as easily and stay put.

Tip 4. Use Lip Stain Instead of Lipstick

Lip stains last longer than lipsticks and also don't leave behind lip prints as an added benefit. You won't even need to touch up your lip stain post workout.
