We endured what seemed like an 8-month long winter and we can now bask in the warmth as June arrives. The sun feels like a long-awaited hug from your best friend you haven't seen in forever. It’s time to shake off that seasonal depression and go outside for a change (and I am not talking to those few that consider relaxing their hobby)! What better way to step into summer than with summer’s favorite hue: Orange!
The Spring ‘18 Runway season was the first to give us the hint! The hue made appearances in shows by Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, and even Calvin Klein. Bright, bold, and beautiful orange transitioned from dresses to jackets to bags, just to show its versatility. Although, unexpected as a summer trend it debuted at #1 on The 5 Major Color Trends to Know For 2018. I then told myself “Yeah, I NEED to get in on this summer timewave”.
I have been watching some style stars stepping out these last few days and based on these looks, they were already on it. Just recently, Kelly Rowland made an appearance on The Voice in an orange Cappellazzo Couture Dress. She looked stunning, pairing it with fuschia nails, hair jewels, and these insane serpent rings on her fingers and ears.
Also, Kendall Jenner sported a blood orange mini dress to the Chaos Magazine Party. We've included some similar looks below if you're loving this look.
In the beauty realm, Rihanna blessed us with her Fenty Beauty Killawatt Foil Highlighter Duo featuring a beautiful Orange highlighter called Mimosa Sunrise. The highlighter, with the same creamy texture of the originals, has a new, mega-reflective, foil-like finish. It’s intense metallic edge and color-rich luminizers comes in this rebellious shade that looks amazing on all skin tones.
The stars aren't the only one making orange look amazing. All over social media, I have seen beauties sporting the color. Not only in their clothing choices but in their hair, using it as an accent color, and for the background in their photoshoots.
Orange really does compliment many skin tones and it compliments well with whatever age you feel that day too.The color is timeless. If you need to tone it down, you can balance out that brightness by pairing it with a neutral colored accessory, like a tan sandal or jacket. Very chic.
So, I know everyone is about to run to their closet with the same thing on their mind: “But I own like one orange shirt! HELP!” Not to worry. I did a little research for you. Turns out that Missguided has everything from bright tangerine dresses, to cool apricot bathing suits. PLUS you can find any accessory you can think of in neutral tones ready for summer. My personal favorite has been the Cut Out Crochet Bikini Set that I would love to pair with their Tan Ghillie Sandals. Just imagine the Yacht Party opportunities waiting!
I have Date Night Ideas for you too! Bright but elegant. Your date (and all your onlookers) will be floored when you when you step out in this Orange Twist Front Dress and these matching satin heels. I know, you may be iffy about matching your dress with your shoes but I want you to take a risk in Summer 2018! Don't be like the rest of them, darling. Why fit in when you were born to stand out?
Now that I fully prepared you for a bold, beautiful summer look, you should cop a few pieces, plan a vacay (or bae-cay), and don't forget the SPF 100!
