You know that feeling when you’re scrolling through Instagram and you see a quote or a meme and think, “omg that’s so me”?

We’ve all had that type of relatable moment on Instagram and it’s what makes sharing on the platform so personal in an ocean of strangers.

We love that instant bond when someone else feels what we feel; we feel connected and less alone. It’s important that we don’t let our worries control us or muddle our emotions. In order to do so, it’s helpful to voice these worries openly in a safe space to remember you're not alone. Let this article be your safe space.I’ll get really vulnerable for a moment.


Here is a list of thoughts that I'm ready to let go of:

I’ll never find "the one" and I’ll be single forever.

I’m in the wrong career and it’ll be too late once I realize it.

I shouldn’t have bought this and that, now my finances are all out of whack.

I don’t like my body. I don’t feel sexy or confident like I used to.

I should be chasing my dreams in real life but I’m so tired I’d rather chase them in my sleep. I’m wasting time.

My friends don’t actually like me, that’s why they’re not texting me back right now.

The universe is out to get me and I can’t change my Fate.

My parents will never know how much I love and appreciate them. I was a selfish child.

I’m embarrassed by my cooking skills and I’m almost 30.

Omg, I’m almost 30 (insert milestone age here).

My friends are getting married, having kids, and I’m still debating whether I can afford the fancier sushi on Seamless.

I watch way too much Netflix.

I stress way more than anyone else I know.

I don’t practice self-care as much as I should. I don’t have the time, But when I don’t make the time I guilt trip myself. What a vicious cycle, inner self!

I know I’ll look at this list at any point in the future and think “oh gosh, I can’t believe I was worried about that!” Every day, we have the opportunity to change our fate and any situation can change if you allow it to. Admit how you feel, try to laugh and then let the troubling thoughts go.

You are not alone, my friend. We are all self-conscious to some degree and making all of those feelings public and personable makes them less scary. These worries are just a part of life - and they should be fleeting instead of burdens.
