To be honest with you the VMA’s are not my favorite award show. Over the years it seems like the stars give less and less style wise to this show. They try to pull off an iconic look that fails or various Kim Kardashian boob moments. Typically the Video Music Awards lack glamour, style, and the artistry we like to see in fashion but this year a few stars really changed it up. These celebrities set the tone for award show looks:

Ashanti looked so luxurious wearing Elie Madi. Not everyone can pull off silver sparkle like she did. Ashanti always exudes sexy and sophisticated but this off the shoulder number was a hit. Paired with silver Giuseppe Zanotti heels, diamonds everywhere, and old Hollywood glamour waved hair, parted to the side.

Hayley Kiyoko is such a doll! Her low cut Stello cocktail dress perfectly represented her carefree baddie attitude. I loved the sleeves especially because they added flair to the overly popular A lined cocktail. The hoops and chic straight hair was the simple touch she needed to pull this look all the way together.

Camila Cabello had the entire crowd in awe wearing Oscar De La Renta. This is couture done right. The puff of the dress didn't overwhelm her and that deep sea blue created a beautiful contrast to her ruby red lip. I also loved that her hair has a slight bump at the top then flows gracefully around her shoulders. She looked like a true Pop Princess.

Millie Bobbi Brown is a stunner! How old is she again? This Rosie Assoulin black jumpsuit says GROWN without her being scandalous or overly revealing. The suit also had giant bows on the straps that kept it fun and flirty. I love Millie because she is always poised in all appearances. She cemented this look with clear heels which have been a trend on the rise this year.

Cardi B in living color, yall! I mean what a beautiful shade on her skin tone. This velvet plum dress by Nicolas Jebran is real Hollywood Glamour. This is the first time in a long time I have seen her rock a short-cut, but I am here for it because it allowed her to show off the dangling emerald earrings. What I loved most were the CLAWS she wore. Hair long nails were adorned her with colorful jewels that matched perfectly with the gems on her fingers.

Winnie Harlow, the modern day SUPERmodel, actually attended the VMA’s in three different looks. My favorite was this beaded couture gown by Zuhair Murad. Although revealing there was such elegance to this dress and honestly in the way she carries herself always. In addition, her long straight sleek hair reminded me of Naomi Campbell, the Supreme Model Icon.

I saw Shay Mitchell and had to do a double take. The Pretty Little Liars star usually appears to be sweet and humble but on this carpet gave us the VA-VA-VOOM in this orange mini dress. Another amazing piece from Nicolas Jebran. Her slicked back straight hair was very Maxim and I wouldn't be surprised if she got picked up for their next cover shoot.

Karlie Kloss was a fan favorite in this tight silver number by Elie Saab. Everyone was talking about her engagement ring but all I could think was Metallic Magic! She looked hot, seductive, and sophisticated. She paired the dress with matching metallic accessories and simple beach wave hair. She is the NEW Hollywood Glamour.

Jenny from the BLOCK made her way to the carpet, okay! Jennifer Lopez is always stunning in every appearance she makes so the VMA’s was no surprise. She dazzled in this silver Versace (a fav designer of hers) single strapped dress Does it seem like like Metallic with a high slit is becoming a popular trend? The Vanguard Award recipient wore waist-length blond tresses and she pumped down in a silver stiletto to heel. True VMA Queen.

Finally, I bring you to my favorite of the night! Dynamic duo Chloe & Halle. The alluring beauty of these dresses could only be matched by that of their voices. They were like two walking pieces of art. These gowns by Iris van Herpen made them the top topic of conversation and possibly have cemented them as style influencers for years to come.

Because of all these lovely ladies, I was happy I tuned into this year’s VMA’s instead of opting for rewatching Insecure (Season 3 is already getting good, yall!). I am so excited for the tail-end of award show season and I will be sure to keep you in the know of who is serving looks.

Comment below if you feel like I am missing any hot looks from this year's carpet! Or if you just want to fangirl with me I am all ears!
